and finish with a short business meeting.
All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are held at the Marion Area Chamber
of Commerce, 206 South Prospect Street, Marion, Ohio.
Past programs have included Public Speaking, Stress On the Job, Computer
Innovations, Self Defense, Customer Service, and Dealing With Loss.
Noteworthy
Items
We sponsor special local community programs throughout the year including
an Executive Luncheon for Bosses Day in October and the annual Administrative
Assistant's Day Luncheon in April with the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce.
In June of each year the Chapter awards the Professional Development Award
to a member who has placed a great deal of time and effort into promoting
the Harding Chapter within the community, is active on chapter committees,
and continues to update her education and work abilities through seminars.
We donate time and skills to many area charitable organizations such as
Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Turning Point, the local Homeless Shelter, Cancer
Stereothon, and area nursing homes.
Our Chapter is often represented each year at the Ohio Division Annual
Meeting in May, the Great Lakes District Conference in October, and the
International Convention in July. These meetings offer participants many
benefits including educational seminars, business meetings, and social
activities.
An important achievement for a secretary is earning the Certified Professional
Secretary (CPS) rating. This program was introduced at the 1946 national
convention and entails taking a three-part examination which covers such
areas as business law, economics, accounting, behavioral science, office
technology, office administration, and communications. The Harding Chapter
is proud to have two members with this distinction: Paula Kitts CPS and
Lisa Cudd CPS. We encourage ALL members to attain this prestigious rating.
